Preparative meetings and Monitoring Groups meetings organisedin “Ahmet Zogu” and “Halit Coka” schools, in Bathore, in the framework of GEW Foundation Project implementation, 2015-2016 The second year of GEW Foundation Project implementation in Bathore schools started with organisation of preparative meetings and Monitoring Groups meetings in both, “Ahmet Zogu” school, on 15 October and “Halit Coka” school, on 16 October 2016. Monitoring Groups members, as well as other teachers, pupils and parents, schools headmasters, representatives from Kamza Educational Office, Chairman of SPASH, heads of FSASH and SPASH Kamza Sections etc, took part in these meetings. Anticipatory meetings were organised some days before them, in both schools with participation of schools’ headmasters, trade union representatives, other active teachers and pupils, aiming to take all the necessary measures, regarding the Project implementation activities. Special letters for each participant, with the main concrete duties for Monitoring Groups members and other stakeholders, as well as special questionnaires for each pupil dropped out or at risk to drop out, subject of this Project implementation, were also prepared and distributed to all participants in these meetings. Organising preparations were made before these activities, including identification of situation regarding pupils dropped out and at risk to drop out from school, preparing special lists for each group, reorganisation of Monitoring Groups, discussing and drafting Project objectives to be realised and activities to be organised, and so on. Chairman of SPASH, Nevrus Kaptelli, opened the meetings in both schools. He spoke about the experience gained during first year of GEW Foundation project implementation in these schools, some main duties for all teachers, pupils and parents to successfully implement this Project, as well as further commitment of SPASH and FSASH in central and local level to mobilise teachers and support their work to keep pupils in school, to reduce school drop out and to prevent and eliminate child labour. Project Coordinator, Stavri Liko, made the presentation in both schools, on this school year Project implementation, including objectives to be realised, activities to be organised, working program and approaches to be used, giving also information about GEW Foundation contribution and its commitment in elimination of child labour, not only in Albania, but also in some other countries. Heads of Monitoring Groups, Bukurosh Hoxha, “Ahmet Zogu” school, and Ilir Hoda, “Halit Coka” school, spoke about problems that their schools are facing regarding pupils dropped out from school and working, causes of this situation, (social and economic situation, mentality and lack of education of some parents, early marriage especially for girls, difficulties of Roma community, etc), importance of this project implementation, actual situation in their respective schools, preparative measures and preparative work already done, including Monitoring Groups composition, objectives for each school and each group, duties of teachers, pupils and parents to work concretely for Project objectives realisation, as well as problems to be solved during this Project implementation. Both schools’ Headmasters, Azem Kovaci, “Ahmet Zogu” and Mahmud Ajazi, “Halit Coka” school, spoke about the importance of this project implementation, their commitment and their contribution for direct support of schools administration for teachers mobilisation and Project objectives realisation and so on. After discussions, proposals and suggestions also from teachers, pupils and parents, the following objectives were approved for each school: In “Ahmet Zogu” school: out of 17 pupils dropped out from school, (out of whom 11 are girls), most of them working, the objective is to withdraw from working and return to school at least 12 of them, as well as, out of 53 pupils at risk to drop out from school, (out of whom 12 are girls), the objective is to integrate in school at least 50 of them. In “Halit Coka” school: out of 15 pupils dropped out from school, (out of whom 3 are girls), most of them working, the objective is to withdraw from working and return to school at least 11 of them, as well as, out of 39 pupils at risk to drop out from school, (out of whom 8 are girls), the objective is to integrate in school at least 35 of them. Working methods, individual plans, based on data gathered through filled in questionnaires and organising the individual concrete work with each of them, were also discussed widely during these meetings. Special Meetings with Monitoring Groups’ members were also organised in this framework in both schools. Four monitoring groups, composed of 5 members each, (3 teachers, 1 pupil, 1 parent), were reorganised in each school. Teacher Bukurosh Hoxha was reconfirmed Head of Monitoring Groups in “Ahmet Zogu” school, while teacher Ilir Hoda was nominated Head of Monitoring Groups in “Halit Coka” school. Heads of Monitoring Groups, Arta Uta, Izet Nabolli, Dhurata Vathi, Valentina Zhivanaj, in “Ahmet Zogu” , and Violeta Cerpja, Qefsere Grifi, Rabije Damzi, Kujtim Bukaqi, in “Halit Coka” school, made presentations about their groups composition and then spoke about situations in each Group, mentioning pupils dropped out and at risk to drop out one by one, difficulties they expect to have, especially those related to economic and financial difficulties of their families and parents’ mentality, especially related to girls dropped out or at risk to drop out from school.
In “Ahmet Zogu” school each Monitoring Group is responsible for 4-5 pupils dropped out and 13-15 pupils at risk to drop out from school. In “Halit Coka” school each Monitoring Group is responsible for 3-4 pupils dropped out and 9-10 pupils at risk to drop out from school. It was also agreed that the next meetings of Monitoring Groups to be organised by mid November 2015. Until then, questionnaires will be filled in, individual plans will be prepared and concrete work with individual pupils will be organised, also expecting first results to be reported. School materials were also distributed for 100 pupils from both schools.
School handbags, having inside more than 14 articles of school materials, were prepared for 50 pupils from each school, selected by schools’ administrations and trade union representatives, referring especially to pupils subject of this Project implementation. Special ceremonies were organised in both schools, prior to Preparative meetings starting, in the presence of all the participants.
Pupils, teachers participants and schools’ Headmasters, appreciated very much this support from GEW Foundation, for this Project, including the contribution for school materials for pupils from families which have problems in providing school materials for their children and expressed their commitment to work hard and realise this Project objectives. |
